Tura gears up for grand celebration of 8 years of MDA Government

Tura, March 5: Excitement and anticipation are in the air on the eve of the mega celebration for the programme “Our Magnificent Meghalaya- Vision 2032: Celebrating 8 years of MDA Government, scheduled to take place tomorrow, March 6, at the P. A. Sangma Sports complex in Tura.

Despite a protest shutdown in the form of Non Cooperation Movement announced by the Garo Students Union and its allies, organisers of the programme are expecting a large turnout of the public for the celebrations.

West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Vibhor Aggarwal issued an official public notice informing that the District Administration, in close coordination with the Police Department, has undertaken necessary preparations to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of the event. Security personnel along with Executive Magistrates will be deployed across the district from the early morning hours to manage the movement of people and maintain law and order, stated the notice.

The arrangements have been made to facilitate the safe participation of beneficiaries, invited guests and members of the public who are expected to attend the programme.

The District Administration has assured that adequate measures have been taken to maintain public safety and ensure the programme proceeds without disruption. Citizens, beneficiaries and stakeholders have been encouraged to attend the event and cooperate with authorities in maintaining a peaceful and orderly environment.

Officials have also cautioned that any attempt to disrupt public order or interfere with the peaceful conduct of the programme will be dealt with strictly as per the law.
