Police arrests city-based drug peddlers at Nongpoh

Nongpoh, Aug 8: Ri Bhoi Police on Thursday apprehended two drug peddlers for possessing heroin from a petrol pump in Ri Bhoi.
Based on credible information, Ri Bhoi police apprehended  Peter Lamare (31) and Vikash Masih (29), both from Punjabi Lane of East Khasi Hills district at around 3:45 pm at Shanbangla Petrol Pump. During the search of their scooty, police seized four soap cases containing heroin weighing 46.14 gm.
According to police, they were coming from Guwahati and planned to sell the drug in Shillong. They also confessed that they were drug addicts and were in debt. The duo decided to purchase the drugs from Guwahati and sell them in Shillong to clear their debt.
A case is being registered and investigation is on to trace the forward and backward linkages.
