Shillong, April 18: Comeback victories defined the day in the 5th Meghalaya State League (MSL 5), as Maram FC and Lawbah SC overturned early setbacks to secure important wins in their respective fixtures.
In Williamnagar (Group G), Maram FC continued their strong run with a convincing 4-1 win over Balmanduri FC, marking their second victory in as many matches. Despite Balmanduri taking the lead through Ganapati Rabha in the 40th minute, Maram responded emphatically after the break. Santosh Teron (51’) initiated the comeback before Bris Taro (66’) added another. Jakchim K Marak then sealed the result with a late brace (84’, 88’), turning the contest decisively in Maram’s favour.
The result builds on Maram’s earlier win over A’chik SCO Rongjeng, underlining their growing momentum in the tournament.
A similar turnaround unfolded in Mairang (Group F), where Lawbah SC edged past Umlakro SC 3-2 in a closely contested match. Umlakro struck first through Georgesteven Thangkhiew in the 21st minute, but Lawbah responded just before half-time. Mebadonbor Shangpliang (40’) levelled the score, and Fini Frankly Ramsiej (42’) quickly followed up to put Lawbah ahead.
Thangkhiew brought Umlakro back into the game with his second goal in the 61st minute, setting up a tense finish. However, substitute Kitborlang Sohtun proved decisive, scoring the winner in the 81st minute to hand Lawbah all three points.
