5 killed, 22 injured as tractor-trolley overturns in UP’s Lakhimpur Kheri

Lakhimpur Kheri (UP), Apr 23: Five persons were killed and 22 others injured after the tractor-trolley in which they were travelling overturned here on Thursday, police said.

The incident took place on the Dhakherwa-Ghajiapur road under the Padhuva police station limits, they said.

According to Padhuva police station in-charge Dinesh Sharma, the victims, all residents of Sohariya village under Shardanagar police limits, were on their way to the Karikot temple in neighbouring Bahraich district to attend a ‘mundan’ ceremony.

He said the accident occurred near a petrol pump in the Padhuva area when the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn on the roadside.

The deceased were identified as Nayansi (15), Raj Kumari (35), Makhana (45), Komal (12) and Panchhi (16), he said.

The injured were rushed to the Ramiabehar Community Health Centre for treatment, police added. (PTI)
