Four militants arrested in Manipur, arms recovered

Imphal, May 27: Four militants belonging to proscribed outfits have been arrested while arms and explosives were seized during separate operations in different districts of Manipur, police said on Wednesday.

In a statement, police said that one militant was apprehended from the Kakwa Lilando Lampak area in Imphal West district on Monday.

Also, a self-styled captain of militant outfit Peoples’ Liberation Army (PLA) was arrested from his residence at Kiyamgeu in Imphal East district the same day, they said.

Two active cadres of the PLA and NRFM were arrested from Mayai Keithel in Thoubal district on Sunday, according to the statement.

On Tuesday, security forces destroyed three illegal bunkers in Ukhrul district and recovered 5 kg of IED and two locally made pompi guns, a police official said.

In another operation in the forest area of Hengkot village in Churachandpur district, six rifles, magazines and IEDs were seized, the official added. (PTI)
