Kamrup Police arrested inter-state thief Shah Rukh Khan from Guwahati Not the Bollywood star

Boko, Aug 18: Kamrup Police arrested an inter-state thief named Shah Rukh Khan in Guwahati on Friday—though not the Bollywood star.

The operation was led by Additional Superintendent of Police( SP) of Kamrup, Kalyan Pathak, and Officer-in-Charge( OC)  of Chhaygaon Police Station, Bhaskar Mall Patowary.

According to OC Patowary, police received a tip-off that Shah Rukh Khan, a suspected inter-state thief specializing in stolen Remote Radio Units (RRUs), was hiding in Dhirenpara, Guwahati. After sharing this information with SP Kamrup Ranjan Bhuyan, a raid was conducted at Khan’s rented house in Milonpur, Dhirenpara, where he was apprehended.

Khan, a resident of Kalimpur under Khatoli Police Station in Muzaffarnagar District, Uttar Pradesh, was found with seven stolen RRUs in his possession. Based on his confession, five more RRUs were recovered from another flat. The total value of the 12 seized RRUs is estimated to be between Rs 45-60 lakhs.

Further investigation revealed that the stolen RRUs were being sold in Delhi-based markets and then smuggled to Bangladesh and Africa. A suo moto case has been registered at Chhaygaon Police Station under case number 289/24, with charges under Sections 305, 317, and 112 of the BNS.

Remote Radio Units (RRUs), also known as Remote Radio Heads (RRHs), are essential transceivers installed in wireless base stations and towers, enabling wireless communication and data transfer.
