Awareness to empower citizens on right to public services act

Ampati, August 21: Students and faculty members of Ampati Degree college attended an awareness programme on the Meghalaya Right to Public Services Act, 2020, with a focus on educating the public about the Act’s provisions and their rights regarding public services, at the college premises on Tuesday.

Organised by the District Administration of South West Garo Hills, the event featured five esteemed resource persons who provided in-depth insights into the various aspects of the Act, its implementation, and how citizens can benefit from its provisions.

The primary objective of the program was to raise awareness about the Act which guarantees time-bound delivery of over 188 notified public services across multiple government departments. Attendees were informed about their rights under this law, the services available, and the steps to take if these services are delayed or denied.

Through this initiative, the District Administration aims to empower the citizens of the district to access public services more efficiently and hold the government accountable for timely service delivery.
