Shillong, Sept 12: Sarojini Naidu Girls’ Secondary School, R & R Colony celebrated its Diamond Jubilee on September 11 marking its 60 years of its dedicated to girls education and the community. The celebrations began with a grand inaugural ceremony and is slated to continue throughout the year with a series of academic, cultural, socio and co-curricular programmes.
The inaugural function was graced by MLA Charles Pyngrope; Jemino Mawthoh, former MLA and Asit Boron Sen, president of R & R Colony Welfare Society along with other distinguished guests, invitees, alumnae, residents of R & R Colony and others.
Delivering the keynote address, Pyngrope lauded the school on the educational service it has rendered over the last 60 years. The MLA highlighted the importance of aligning and enhancing the standard educational system with foremost values that enrich the civilization.
During his speech, the MLA also promised funds amounting to Rs 5 lakh for the school under the SRWP scheme.
The year-long celebration will feature a variety of programmes involving various educational institutions across the city designed to showcase the talents of students and celebrate the institution’s journey.
The school also extends invitation to its former teachers, former managing committee members, alumnae and students to join the Diamond Jubilee celebrations and be part of its memorable milestone.
