3 killed as man drives tractor into crowd in UP’s Bijnor

Bijnor (UP), Oct 8: Three people were killed after a tractor allegedly ploughed into a crowd following a dispute between two groups at a liquor shop here, police said on Thursday.

The tractor driver was injured after his vehicle overturned while he was allegedly trying to flee, police said.

Chandpur Circle Officer Des Deepak Singh said the incident took place late Wednesday night at a liquor shop in Datiana village where an argument broke out between people from Jamaluddinpur and Datiana.

He said that during the argument, Datiana resident Virendra allegedly drove his tractor into the crowd in an inebriated condition, injuring three people from Jamaluddinpur — Baburam (40), Mahendra (58) and Udayveer (60).

The injured were taken to a community health centre, where Baburam and Udayveer died. Mahendra succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital, Singh said.

Virendra was injured after the tractor overturned while he was allegedly trying to flee. He has been hospitalised, the circle officer said. (PTI)
