Regional parties will usher shift in India’s political dynamics: Mukul

SHILLONG, AUG 26: TMC leader Mukul Sangma has remarked that the whole political dynamics in the country have changed and over the years to come, more than 200 seats in the Lok Sabha will be with the regional parties bringing an end to the so-called “big brotherly attitude” of the national parties.

“The BJP’s march towards crossing the 300 mark was halted by the regional parties across the country. Similarly, the same thing happened to Congress. Because of the respective domains where the regional parties have guarded their own respective turf, Congress also could not cross 99 seats,” said Sangma.

“As far as the political scenario is concerned, in the years to come, there will be more than 200 seats out of 543 seats in the Lok Sabha, which will be with the regional parties,” he added.

According to him, only 300-350 seats will now be available for the national parties both BJP and Congress.

“This is good for the country given our democratic system where we take pride in the federal structure. The usual tendency of every national political party to be dictatorial in their approach cannot happen. They should realise that their so-called big brotherly attitude can no longer be the order of the day,” he said, adding that the tendency to have that dictatorial attitude is slowly disappearing.
