Abandoned bag causes bomb scare

Shillong, July 18: A briefly abandoned bag caused a bomb scare at Polo Bazar on Friday afternoon, prompting the police to take swift action to cordon the area.

Although one Nijimu Fithu (24) from Nagaland later claimed its ownership, the Bomb Disposal Team conducted a thorough inspection of the black bag to rule out any potential threat.

As packets suspected to contain ganja were recovered from the bag, Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) was informed about it to take further action, said East Khasi Hills police chief Vivek Syiem in a press release.
