The high-level meeting was co-chaired by Assam Cabinet Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah and Arunachal Pradesh Minister Kento Jini, and marked substantial progress in resolving contentious border issues between the two states.

The meeting focused on disputed areas involving Assam’s Dhemaji district and the Lower Siang and East Siang districts of Arunachal Pradesh. Guided by continued efforts under central leadership, both sides reported steady advancements in narrowing gaps and building consensus.

A major outcome of the discussions was the resolution of disputes concerning several previously unresolved villages. A uniform consensus was reached on multiple sensitive points, helping to clear a significant portion of the remaining conflict zones.

For villages where issues still remain, both states agreed to conduct joint field verification, involving public representatives and local residents. A comprehensive report from these field visits is expected within the next two months, paving the way for a final settlement.

The meeting was marked by a spirit of cooperation and was attended by key stakeholders from both states. From Assam, the meeting included Cabinet Minister Ranoj Pegu, Member of Parliament Pradan Baruah, MLA Bhuban Pegu, and Dhemaji Deputy Commissioner and Regional Committee Member Secretary Rahul Suresh Javir, along with other committee members.

Arunachal Pradesh was represented by MLA Tojir Kadu, Deputy Speaker Kardo Nyigyor, District Commissioner and Member Secretary Rujjum Rakshap, and several senior officials.
