Guwahati, April 24: In a strong reaction to the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Kumar Borah on Thursday demanded that India deliver a decisive and fitting response to Pakistan, which he held responsible for orchestrating the attack.

Speaking to the media, Borah said, “This attack is not just about the tragic death of 26 people—it’s a threat to every patriotic Indian. Pakistan must face the consequences. India must give a fitting reply.”

While criticizing the government’s failure to prevent the attack despite a three-tier security arrangement in Pahalgam, Borah stressed that now is not the time for blame games or political point-scoring. “Big speeches are not enough. The government must act, and act decisively,” he said, calling for unity across caste, religion, and region in the fight against terrorism.

Borah assured that the Congress party will fully support any tough decision the government takes to eliminate terrorism from Indian soil. “At this stage, we should not give space to divisive voices. We must stand united and make sure Pakistan pays for this,” he added.
