Guwahati, July 3: Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu met with Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya at Raj Bhavan on Thursday to present a comprehensive update on the higher education department’s initiatives, progress, and strategic roadmap aimed at transforming Assam’s academic landscape.

During the meeting, Pegu highlighted the state’s focused push to align all universities with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, emphasizing reforms in curriculum design, multidisciplinary learning, faculty development, and digital infrastructure. The minister outlined the department’s plans to build an education system that is inclusive, future-ready, and globally competitive.

Governor Acharya welcomed the initiatives, praising the government’s commitment to strengthening Assam’s academic ecosystem. He stated that with sustained efforts, Assam could emerge as a leading hub for higher education in the region. He also reaffirmed Raj Bhavan’s full support in realizing the vision of NEP 2020.

The Governor stressed the importance of building a robust academic infrastructure that not only empowers students and educators but also positions Assam as a key player on both the national and international education map.
