Assam’s development soars under CM Sarma: BJP highlights key achievements

Guwahati, March 11: The Assam BJP has hailed Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s leadership as a driving force behind the state’s rapid development.

In a statement on Tuesday, BJP spokesperson Kalyan Gogoi highlighted key achievements, including Assam’s ambitious plan to launch its own satellite—an initiative aimed at tackling floods, monitoring agriculture, and addressing border issues. This move positions Assam as the first Indian state to launch its own satellite, marking a milestone in technological advancement.

Gogoi contrasted the current government’s performance with the previous Congress-led administration, pointing out that Assam’s capital expenditure has grown from ₹3,000 crore in 2015-16 to ₹24,000 crore in 2025-26. He attributed this rise to the BJP government’s commitment to infrastructure and economic growth.

Emphasizing BJP’s focus on empowerment, he cited initiatives such as Arunodoi, Nijut Moina, the Women’s Entrepreneurship Scheme, and the CM’s Atmanirbhar Scheme. These programs have supported communities like the Morans, Motoks, Tea Tribes, Bodos, and Koch-Rajbongshis, promoting economic self-reliance. Assam’s cultural heritage has also gained global recognition, with traditional performances like Bihu, Jhumur, and Bagrumba aiming to set world records.

Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia appreciated the 2025-26 budget presented by Finance Minister Ajanta Neog, calling it inclusive and beneficial for all communities. He highlighted provisions for over 25,000 Naamghars (Vaishnavite prayer halls) and religious institutions, reinforcing Assam’s spiritual heritage. Saikia reiterated that BJP’s welfare schemes, including Orunodoi, PM Awas Yojana, PM Kisan, and Nijut Moina, have been implemented without bias, benefiting people across all religious and linguistic backgrounds.

The BJP reaffirmed its commitment to “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,” emphasizing that regions with significant minority populations, such as Barpeta, Dhubri, and Morigaon, have also received the benefits of government schemes.
