Beauty workshop held to empower district jail inmates in Shillong

Shillong, Nov 5: In a unique initiative aimed at skill development and rehabilitation, ACCENTUATE Makeup and Hair Academy conducted a two-day workshop on beauty, hairstyling, and makeup for inmates of the District Jail, Shillong.

The workshop, organized by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, and the Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS), provided hands-on training to 30 inmates, both male and female, in beauty techniques, makeup artistry, and hairstyling.

Deputy Commissioner Rosetta Mary Kurbah appreciated the effort, stating that the initiative aims to empower inmates with valuable vocational skills, enabling them to explore new career opportunities during and after their release.

The sessions, conducted by Badap Hynniewta, Educator and Founder of ACCENTUATE Academy, and his team, emphasized the importance of such skills in enhancing self-confidence and opening doors to sustainable employment in the beauty industry
