Shillong, Sept 16: A motorcycle rally from Shillong to Sohra and back was organised by the 119 Territorial Army on Sunday as part of its platinum jubilee celebrations.
Altogether 40 motorcycles took part in the rally that “showcased not only the coordination and discipline of the Territorial Army but also their commitment to community engagement and adventure”, stated an official release.
Upon their return, the riders were accorded a warm reception at Kenches Trace, Shillong.
The event was aimed at fostering camaraderie among the participants and promoting the spirit of adventure, and demonstrating the operational capabilities of the Territorial Army.
“The rally was a testament to the skill and dedication of our Territorial Army personnel,” said Col Devashis Nailk, Commanding Officer of 119 Territorial Army.
Territorial Army was formally inaugurated by the first Indian Governor General C Rajagopalachari on 9 October 1949.
