Bishop’s call to ‘help one addict at a time’

Shillong, June 28: International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was observed at SANKER – Centre for Mental Health and Neurology recently.

In his address, Most Rev Dr Purely Lyngdoh, representing SAFF and KJCLF, urged stakeholders to support SANKER’s services and encouraged individuals to help one addict at a time.

The Bishop emphasized the importance of combining medical treatment with faith in God.

The programme included testimonials, presentations, and sharing of experiences from recovering patients and their parents.

SANKER director Dr Sandi Syiem led an interactive session on “Feedback and the Way Forward” and the participants pledged to reach out to and help one addict at a time, aligning with the motto of Reach Shillong Ministries to uplift those in need.

Psychiatrist Dr D Khonglah discussed addiction as a chronic brain disorder while clinical psychologist Dr Jasmine Lyngdoh focused on addiction in vulnerable groups.
