BJP slams Gaurav Gogoi, says ‘Denounce sedition, stop conspiring against Advantage Assam!’

Guwahati, March 6: The BJP has launched a scathing attack on Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, accusing him of spreading misinformation and attempting to sabotage the Advantage Assam 2.0 investment summit. Assam BJP leaders have demanded that Gogoi denounce sedition charges and cease his alleged conspiracies against the state’s economic growth.

A video shared by Congress, featuring Gogoi, claims that investment summits are mere spectacles with little real-world impact. In the clip, Gogoi raises concerns over the implementation of MoUs and project delays. However, controversy erupted when, at the 8-second mark, the video displayed an inaccurate map of India—excluding Gilgit, Baltistan, and parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

Assam BJP spokesperson Subhash Dutta countered Gogoi’s claims, asserting that the ₹5 lakh crore worth of investment agreements signed at the summit have left Congress leaders envious. Dutta highlighted that investment summits are being held nationwide under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to propel India into the world’s top three economies by 2030.

“The NDA government, under Modi’s leadership, has adopted a proactive approach to attract investments. Congress, which left Assam economically stagnant during its rule, cannot digest the state’s progress under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma,” Dutta declared.

Lakhimpur MLA Manab Deka escalated the attack, accusing Gogoi of maintaining suspicious silence on allegations related to national security. He pointed to reports linking Gogoi and his wife, Elizabeth, to anti-India activities. Deka claimed that despite Elizabeth’s multiple visits to Pakistan and alleged ties with figures like Ali Taukir, Gogoi has failed to address the serious concerns raised by the people of Assam.

“Why is Gaurav Gogoi silent on his wife’s ties to Pakistan? Why does he refuse to clarify his alleged connections with anti-India elements? His evasiveness only fuels suspicions,” Deka questioned.

Deka further slammed Gogoi for featuring a distorted map of India in his video. “Does Gaurav Gogoi not consider Kashmir a part of India? Is he acting under his wife’s influence, or is there a larger agenda at play? The people of Assam deserve an answer,” he stated.

The BJP has challenged Gogoi to respond to the allegations against him instead of engaging in what they call “misleading propaganda.” As tensions escalate, all eyes remain on Gogoi’s next move in the political storm surrounding Advantage Assam 2.0.
