Guwahati, April 5: The decisive victory of the BJP-led alliance in the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council elections is being hailed by party leaders as a sign of surging grassroots support, especially from Assam’s tribal and indigenous communities. Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia on Saturday credited the “massive mandate” to the trust built by the “Double Engine Government” under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Speaking after the results, Saikia described the outcome as “a report card” of the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council’s governance and praised the leadership of Chief Executive Member Tankeswar Rabha for delivering on the development agenda.

“This landslide victory is not just about numbers—it reflects deepening support from the sons of the soil, the tribal heartland, and ethnic communities who are directly benefiting from BJP’s welfare schemes. It proves that development is reaching the last mile,” Saikia said.
The BJP leader expressed his gratitude to the voters of the Rabha Hasong region and reaffirmed the party’s commitment to inclusive development. He emphasized that the alliance would work even harder to fulfil the aspirations of the people, especially those in remote and rural pockets.
While calling the victory expected, Saikia acknowledged the effort of the BJP’s grassroots workers, or karyakartas, who campaigned tirelessly on the ground. He reminded them that the momentum must continue and urged immediate preparation for the upcoming Panchayat elections.

“For a karyakarta, an election result is not the end—it is the beginning of the next mission,” he said, rallying party members to mobilize for the local body polls.
Backing the decision to hold Panchayat elections without party symbols, Saikia said the move would promote local accountability and encourage the election of deserving individuals based on their merit and commitment, not just party affiliation.
“We call upon every karyakarta to rise beyond politics and ensure the best candidates are elected, reinforcing social responsibility at the grassroots,” he added.
The BJP-led alliance’s victory in Rabha Hasong is expected to energize the party’s campaign machinery as it looks ahead to consolidating its rural base ahead of the Panchayat elections—often seen as a litmus test for public sentiment before larger electoral battles.
