CM directs Health Dept to speed up MHIS payments  

Measures ordered to address delay in payments and claim rejections

Shillong, Aug 6: Chief minister Conrad K Sangma has directed the Health department to urgently investigate the root causes of repeated delay in payment and rejection of claims under Meghalaya Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS).

During a review meeting on MHIS implementation on Wednesday, the chief minister also ordered corrective measures to address the anomalies and ensure effectiveness of the flagship scheme.

“Directed the department to urgently examine the causes behind delays in payments and claim rejections, and to take corrective measures in order to ensure that the scheme is implemented efficiently and transparently to serve the best interests of every resident of Meghalaya,” the chief minister wrote on his X handle while informing about the meeting.

The review meeting was also attended by health minister Ampareen Lyngdoh and senior health officials.

MHIS is a flagship scheme to improve healthcare delivery and provide financial protection to the citizens of Meghalaya.
