Shillong, Sep 4: The National People’s Youth Front (NPYF) has sought unconditional apology from a medical student for his alleged disrespectful behaviour displayed during a recent meeting in presence of chief minister Conrad K Sangma at Tura Circuit House.
The NPYF said the student’s behaviour was unbecoming when participants shared their valuable insights on the issue of proposed public-private partnership mode for Tura Medical College.
Asking the student to tender an apology, NPYF working president Anclucis M Marak said, “The student displayed a lack of knowledge, maturity, and basic etiquette, failing to express concerns respectfully.”
“It also appears that the said individual may have been motivated or instigated by vested interests…,” he said pointing at a political conspiracy on the issue.
Marak said the student owes an apology not only to the august gathering including the chief minister, but to the people of Meghalaya at large.
He also warned any attempt to demean the office of the Chief Minister or to insult the senior citizens and community leaders is unacceptable and intolerable.
The NPYF further appealed to all stakeholders, particularly the youth, to engage in democratic debates and dialogues in a civilized and respectful manner.
