Conrad hails Ronnie for taking a ‘difficult decision’

Shillong, Aug 5: NPP national president and chief minister Conrad K Sangma has formally welcomed former Congress leader Ronnie V Lyngdoh to the National People’s Party (NPP) and appreciated him for the “difficult decision” he made to join the party.

Emphasising on unity and commitment to people in politics, Sangma said, “There is no permanent enemy and no permanent friend in politics. What matters most is the commitment to the people and the state.”

“I know that decisions like these are not simple and family plays a crucial role in supporting you in those difficult times,” Sangma said while asserting that the former Congress MLA’s move would change the political dynamics of not just Mylliem constituency but the state as a whole.

The NPP chief also welcomed all leaders and supporters of Ronnie V Lyngdoh for their support to NPP.

With Lyngdoh’s joining the NPP, the strength of Congress in the 60-member assembly has become zero.

Sangma also praised NPP working president Hamletson Dohling, also a former Mylliem legislator, for his crucial role in facilitating Lyngdoh’s joining the NPP.

Assuring the people of Mylliem constituency, he said the government would double its effort to bring development to the constituency.

He also assured of providing different forms of livelihood opportunities to the youth and women folks of Mylliem constituency.

Highlighting NPP’s growth and its ability to overcome challenges with a positive mindset, he said, “We never allow negativity to come into us and that is what is defined the mindset with which the NPP is moving forward.”

He asserted that the NPP is the only party that can be trusted to take the state forward, saying, “We are truly a party that is developing our state and this is the only party which we can trust to take our state forward.”
