Deputy Speaker leads I-Day celebrations at Ampati

Ampati, August 15: Together with the rest of the nation, the 79th Independence Day was celebrated in South West Garo Hills in full patriotic fervor and gaiety on Friday with Deputy Speaker of the state assembly, Timothy D. Shira, hoisting the tri-color and taking the Rashtriya Salute before a large crowd of patriotic citizens at Ampati Students’ Field.

Addressing the gathering, Timothy D. Shira highlighted the milestones achieved by the government keeping in mind the mandate of the people in terms of development and prosperity of the state.

He also congratulated the district administration and all stakeholders for elevating the education scenario in the district.

An impressive march past by 28 parade contingents comprising of Ampati DEF, NCC, and Scouts & Guides, a colorful cultural show and presentation of awards and certificates to meritorious students, employees, health Workers & facilities including children’s sports were some of the highlights of the day’s celebration.
