DHS to be renamed

Shillong, Feb 28: The Directorate of Health Services (Research) will be renamed to Directorate of Health Services, Medical Education (Research) to bring under it the subject “medical education”.

The state cabinet took a decision in this regard on Wednesday.

The change was made keeping in view that PA Sangma Medical College has been started by a private entity and at the same time Shillong Medical College is expected to start this year itself, chief minister Conrad Sangma said.

The new roles and the responsibilities will be related mostly to the admission process and overall monitoring and supervision, he added.

He also informed that the academic session of PA Sangma Medical College will start in September-October.
