Tura, April 22: A house of a village chieftain (Nokma) has been destroyed in a fire that broke out due to faulty wiring on Tuesday afternoon in Mangsang area of East Garo Hills and police have issued a stern action against those propagating fake news claiming it to be otherwise.

Mangsang police were alerted around 12:21 in the afternoon about a fire breaking out at the home of Presila N Marak, in the village of Morongga Nengkram, under Rongjeng police station jurisdiction.
Rongjeng fire and emergency teams were rushed to the site, which is located in a remote part of the district bordering West Khasi Hills.

When the fire team arrived at the spot they found no one in the house. They managed to put the fire out.
“On inspection of the house it was found that the cause of the fire breakout was due to poor faulty wiring and no foul play is suspected,” informed East Garo Hills SP S A Rynjah.
With mischief makers trying to create a false story on the issue, the police chief warned that anyone found taking advantage of the fire incident with a view to create law and order and communal disharmony would be severely dealt with as per the law.
