Shillong, Oct 26: A 50-year-old man, Kellshon Shadap, drowned while fishing in Umkhein river at Jaroit village in East Khasi Hills district.
His body was retrieved by State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel after conducting an operation for half an hour on Saturday.
“SDRF team conducted a search operation using a barbed wire and diving inside the water. After casting for half an hour with barbed wire, SDRF jawans T Khongstia and I Lapasam fished the body from the water,” an SDRF release said.
