Former GHADC Member Roynath Sangma passes away, CM mourns loss

Tura, April 29: Four term member of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council, Roynath D. Sangma, who held various positions in successive Executive Committee and was a senior NPP leader, has passed away on Tuesday at a hospital in Guwahati after prolonged illness.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma expressed deep sorrow at the loss, describing the late leader as a dedicated public servant and a strong voice for his community.

“Late Roynath Sangma was a respected public leader and a voice for his community,” the Chief Minister said in a statement.

He also highlighted Sangma’s significant contributions to the National People’s Party (NPP) and his close association with his late father, former Chief Minister P.A. Sangma.

Roynath Sangma’s funeral is scheduled to take place on Wednesday at Bandanggre, under Phulbari region, where family, friends, and community members will gather to pay their final respects.
