Freedom run held at Rangsakona

Ampati, Aug 13: As part of the nation’s 78th Independence Day celebrations this week, a 10 km Freedom Run was organized at Rangsakona under Rerapara C&RD Block in South West Garo Hills district today.

The run organized by the District Sports Office were participated by both young and senior enthusiasts from all walks of life

Flagging off the marathon, District Sports Officer S. M. Marak advocated the importance of sportsmanship and wished all the participants a good run.

In the Men’s category the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions were bagged by Chonseng B. Marak, Bishmadev Hajong and Kanen A. Sangma respectively, while in the Women’s category Ringsechimik G. Sangma, Dodim M. Sangma and Kebina Ch. Marak bagged the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

Consolation prizes were also awarded to five participants from both the categories.The prizes were presented to the winners by the Sub Inspector in-charge Garodubi Police Outpost and the Nokma of Rangsakona.
