Schools must obtain formal recognition from the competent authority within the stipulated time frame to continue operations, according to the notification issued by director of School Education & Literacy, Banteilang J Kharshandi, on Friday.

However, failure to secure recognition within six months will result in closure of the school, and it will not be permitted to operate thereafter, said the order.

Besides, no new school will be allowed to open without obtaining prior recognition from the government.

School authorities have been advised to approach their respective DSEOs at the earliest to initiate the recognition process.
