Filling up of vacancies by MPSC suffered delays: Paul Lyngdoh
Shillong, Mar 27: The state government has constituted Meghalaya Social Welfare Recruitment Board (MSWRB) to speed up recruitment against vacancies in the department.
The decision was taken keeping in view the urgent need to address the shortfall of human resources in the department, said social welfare minister Paul Lyngdoh after a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
“In order to accelerate the process of filling up various vacancies, the cabinet has agreed to the setting up of the Meghalaya Social Welfare Recruitment Board,” he added.
Lyngdoh said the Board has been tasked with various responsibilities, including immediate need to filling up the various vacancies.
Giving a glimpse of the vacancy scenario in the department, he said, “For instance, we have as many as 62 lady supervisors, who are yet to be appointed, 8 child development project officers (CDPOs).”
According to him, the process has taken longer than expected because of various delays that have occurred in the filling up of these vacancies by the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC).
“To expedite that process, the cabinet has cleared the creation of Meghalaya Social Welfare Recruitment Board, which will be headed by a chairperson in the rank of the commissioner & secretary to the government of Meghalaya in the department of Social Welfare with the director as member secretary,” he added.
