Govt holiday for ADC polls on Feb 21

Shillong, Feb 18: The state government has declared February 21 as a general holiday in Khasi-Jaintia Hills for the autonomous district council (ADC) elections to be held in the region.

The districts where the holiday will be applicable are – East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills, South West Khasi Hills, Eastern West Khasi Hills, Ri-Bhoi, East Jaintia Hills, and West Jaintia Hills.

Eligible voters for KHADC and JHADC elections, who are employees of central or state government, or private establishments, will be entitled for the special leave.

“The Labour Commissioner has been instructed to ensure compliance by private sector establishments, while the Chief Inspector of Boilers and Factories has been directed to reschedule weekly holidays to February 21, 2025, in factories where necessary,” the notification said.

Polling for KHADC and JHADC elections will take place on February 21 and the votes will be counted on February 24.
