Govt staff take National Unity Day pledge

Shillong, Oct 31: Chief Secretary, DP Wahlang on Thursday administered the National Unity Day pledge at the Main Secretariat building premises in honour of the 148th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.


National Unity Day, observed annually on October 31, focuses on the theme of Raigad Fort for 2024. This day honors Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a significant leader in India’s independence movement and the country’s first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister.


The day is dedicated to promoting national integration, unity, and harmony among citizens, reflecting Patel’s vision of a cohesive India.
