Guv pays tribute to U Soso Tham

Shillong, Dec 19: Governor C H Vijayashankar paid rich tributes to U Soso Tham, whose contributions have left an indelible mark on the cultural and literary heritage of Meghalaya during the 84th death anniversary of the renowned Khasi poet and laureate.

Attending as the chief guest at a ceremony held at the U Soso Tham Auditorium, State Central Library, Shillong on Wednesday, the governor said U Soso Tham’s works, which reflect the traditions, culture, and aspirations of the Khasi community, continue to inspire generations with their profound depth and relevance.

Governor Vijayashankar also highlighted the importance of preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of the state, emphasizing that the works of such great personalities should continue to guide and shape future generations.

The ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, scholars, and literary enthusiasts.

The event also featured a cultural program that included performances inspired by U Soso Tham’s poetry, bringing his literary legacy to life.
