Shillong, May 5: After persevering through months of hard work for these crucial exams, Monday’s declaration of the HSSLC results has brought joy and pride to students across the state.
The toppers, reflecting on their journeys, narrated the importance of dedication, hard work, and having the right support system to help them in achieving their goals.
Topper in the Arts stream from St Edmund’s Hr Sec School, Idawanplishisha Swer, credits her success to relentless effort and discipline. “Hard work and perseverance are essential for achieving success,” she said, crediting her teachers and school for their unwavering support.

Swer, who aspires to become an IAS officer, maintained a consistent study routine from the start of the academic year. “There were struggles, but I pushed through. Even when distracted, I made sure to utilize every moment for studying,” she shared.
In the case of this year’s HSSLC Science stream topper Saptarshi Bhattacharjee of Laban Bengalee Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Shillong, success stemmed from sincerity and steady effort rather than rigid routines. “I never studied more than 6-7 hours a day, but I never skipped learning,” he pointed out, highlighting the significance of routine.

Expressing immense gratitude toward his family, teachers, and school, Saptarshi acknowledged that, “This achievement was a result of their guidance and encouragement.”
For Disha Chokani- state topper in the Commerce Stream and hailing from St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong, the results have been a “dream come true” for this young lady.

“Making my parents and teachers proud is the best feeling,” exclaimed Chokani as she too stressed on the importance of consistency and smart work.
While many view social media as a distraction, she believes in using it wisely. “It’s a part of life—balance is key,” she said.
Her advice to fellow students? “Spend more time on challenging subjects. Persistence pays off.”
