Hek lauds state’s proposal to strengthen influx control

Shillong, Aug 11: Cabinet Minister and BJP leader AL Hek has welcomed the state government’s proposal to come up with a stronger mechanism to check influx into the state.

Underscoring the importance of preventing influx, the cabinet minister said it was the responsibility of both the government and individuals to ensure this.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Hek Said, “It is the duty of both the government and individuals to ensure that an influx should not take place in the state of Meghalaya.”

Earlier in his recent statement, Hek had also expressed confidence that the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act (MRSSA) is an effective mechanism for regulating the flow of people.

Referring to the recent arrest of Bangladeshi nationals for attacking a villager in the border areas, Hek said that it is the government’s responsibility to inform the Central authorities about influx from outside the country, stressing the need for proactive measures to address the issue. “The various agencies, including the police and Border Security Force (BSF), are working to prevent influx into the state,” the minister stated
