Hek ‘personally satisfied’ with NPP-led MDA Govt

State BJP leader urges Chhattisgarh CM to free arrested Catholic nuns

Shillong, July 29: Cabinet minister AL Hek, who is one of the two BJP MLAs in the state assembly, has expressed satisfaction over the NPP-led MDA government’s performance over the years.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, the minister while leaving it up to the people to judge the performance of the government where he is a member, he said he’s “personally satisfied” with the work done by the government keeping in view its limitations and challenges faced.

“It is for the people to judge not me. How will I judge my own performance? Whatever we are doing and in my humble way, personally I am satisfied. We have so much to do but we also have limitations,” said the BJP leader to a media query.

To another question, Hek said the decision regarding continuity in his ministry will be based on the party’s decision, and he cannot comment on it.

“This is party decision,” he said.

Meanwhile, the BJP leader has written a letter to Chhattisgarh chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai requesting immediate release of two Catholic nuns from Kerala who were arrested following a Bajrang Dal complaint about forced religious conversion.

In his letter, AL Hek expressed concern over the arrest and requested Sai to take appropriate steps to investigate the matter.

Making an appeal for a proper investigation, Hek said, “…to the best of my knowledge … the church is not doing any forced conversion.”

Asked, Hek said the Chhattisgarh chief minister had assured him of taking all possible steps for immediate release of the nuns.
