HNLC accuses State of sabotage attempt

SHILLONG, AUG 5: Banned khasi outfit Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) has accused the government of attempting to sabotage its peace talks.

A statement by HNLC general secretary-cum-publicity secretary Sainkupar Nongtraw on Sunday stated that, “The HNLC wants to find a solution to the 77-year problem, but the government is attempting to sabotage the peace talks.”

“It is true that we initially argued to have discussions within the framework of the Indian constitution, but after we became flexible, the government was not,” the outfit claimed.

Interestingly, the outfit fails to provide any substance on its allegations against the government, preferring instead to verbally attack politicians and leaders and accusing them of taking advantage of the common people of the state.
