Shillong, July 1: The proscribed Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) has demanded immediate shutdown of a pharmacy at Khyndailad for allegedly not allowing women hawkers do business near the pharmacy.

HNLC general secretary Sainkupar Nongtraw in a statement alleged that owner of Economic Pharmacy, one of the oldest shops in the area, harassed and drove away women vendors from the streets near his shop.
Terming it an “insult to the entire jaidbynriew”, the HNLC demanded closure of Economic Pharmacy and eviction of its owner from Meghalaya.
Further, the HNLC slammed the state government for the delay in relocation of the Harijan Colony from Them Iew Mawlong in the city.
