Shillong, May 31: Veteran leader of the United Democratic Party (UDP) and former Nongthymmai legislator, Jemino Mawthoh, has decided to quit the party.
Confirming this on Saturday, UDP leader Titosstarwell Chyne said Mawthoh had submitted his resignation letter to the party president Metbah Lyngdoh.

“We were told the president has received the letter,” he added.
Stating that he has not seen the letter yet, Chyne said it is not possible for him to know what prompted the former UDP general secretary to take the decision to leave the party.
Chyne said “everything is well” within the party.
Efforts to contact Lyngdoh and Mawthoh were in vain as they could not be reached on their mobile phones.
