Shillong, Aug 6: It’s the National People’s Party (NPP) “focus on development” and its leader’s ability to “walk the talk” that made former Congress leader and Mylliem MLA Ronnie V Lyngdoh to take the decision to join the ruling party.
He praised chief minister Conrad K Sangma’s leadership and the party’s commitment to bringing lasting change to the state.
Claiming that his his decision to join the NPP was not sudden, Lyngdoh said he made the move after listening to the people of Mylliem constituency, who urged him to take a bold step towards real development.
He clarified that there were no pre-conditions, deals, or offers made for his joining the NPP.
Emphasising on working towards development of the state, he said, he said, “In my case, the permission (to join the NPP) came from people without which I would not have taken such a step. Let me clarify that there were no pre-conditions, no deal, no offer, no shortcut for joining the NPP.”
Referring to development taking place under the NPP-led government, Lyngdoh said, “It has compelled me to join the NPP to give my hand to the chief minister who walk the talk.”
Lyngdoh highlighted the NPP government’s initiatives, including the allocation of ₹240 crore for lilium farming in the region.
He requested the deputy chief minister to expedite the Lawsohtun road project to alleviate traffic congestion.
“We need leaders like our chief minister, deputy chief minister. I have raised so many issues regarding the roads, regarding the nightmare we faced everyday and Prestone Tynsong has always responded,” he said.
Urging the deputy chief minister to expedite the work on Lawsohtun road to east traffic during rush hours, he said, “I have seen under this party, our state will progress and bring lasting change.”
