Justice Pande’s term extended in MSCDRC

Shillong, Nov 14: The state cabinet on Friday cleared a proposal for re‑appointment of Justice Shivaji Pande as President of the Meghalaya State Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission (MSCDRC).

Justice Pande’s current term expires on 6 December 2025, and as per existing regulations, he is eligible for a further four‑year term, subject to the age ceiling of 67 years, said cabinet minister Wailadmiki Shylla after the cabinet meeting.

Additionally, the cabinet has endorsed the names of four members for the commission – Major Unsambyntalang Nongsiej, Rupa Paul Chaudhuri, Nelisa F Kharshiing and Bijoy A Sangma.

Meanwhile, the cabinet also approved the service rules for Meghalaya State Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission (MSCDRC), enabling the commission to set up its own recruitment board for staff appointments.
