Guwahati, Nov 22: Kaziranga, known for its iconic one-horned rhinos and lush landscapes, will host the 12th edition of the International Tourism Mart (ITM) from November 26 to 29.
The annual flagship event, organized by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, aims to showcase the immense tourism potential of Northeast India to domestic and global audiences.
The ITM brings together a vibrant mix of stakeholders, including tourism entrepreneurs from the eight northeastern states—Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, and Sikkim. This diverse platform encourages collaboration among buyers, sellers, media, influencers, and government agencies, reinforcing the region’s appeal as a premier travel destination.
Set against the backdrop of the UNESCO-listed Kaziranga National Park, the event celebrates a region teeming with cultural diversity, ancient traditions, and unparalleled natural beauty. Kaziranga, which marks 50 years as a national park this year, offers attendees an opportunity to witness its rich biodiversity firsthand.
Officials said the event would welcome approximately 400 participants, including international and domestic tour operators, hoteliers, homestay owners, influencers, government officials, and students.
There will be state presentations showcasing the unique offerings of each northeastern state.
This apart, there will be B2B meetings strengthening business opportunities for tourism stakeholders.
There will be cultural evenings and food demonstrations highlighting the region’s culinary and artistic richness.
This year’s ITM emphasizes sustainability with energy-efficient practices to eliminate single-use plastics, as the event is designed to minimize its environmental footprint.
