Man jumps into Umiam dam, body retrieved

Shillong, Mar 24: Body of a person, who allegedly jumped from Umiam dam bridge into the water on Sunday, was retrieved on Monday.

The deceased identified as Pritish Deb, a resident of Kench’s Trace, owned an electronics shop at Last Stop, Laban.

He allegedly committed the act around 2:30 pm on Sunday.

After failing to retrieve the body till late evening, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) personnel finally fished it out around 1:50 pm on Monday.

An investigation is under way into the incident.
