Marcuise meets with FOCUS farmers, hands over cheques

Williamnagar, Oct 18: Farmers under the state project FOCUS were greeted by Meghalaya minister for Soil and Water Conservation, Marcuise N Marak, who interacted with them and distributed cheques to the producer groups of the C&RD Blocks of East Garo Hills, namely, Samanda, Songsak and Dambo-Rongjeng respectively under the FOCUS program in Williamnagar on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, Marcuise informed the gathering that the Govt. of Meghalaya had been providing financial incentives to the farmers and the producer groups as the primary occupation of the people of the state is agriculture and as the vision of the chief minister was to make the state a 10 billion dollar economy, the Govt. will initiate steps to uplift the farmers
and the producer groups thereby helping them to increase their income.

While highlighting the schemes and projects of the state Govt. aim at improving agriculture he also urged the farmers and the producer groups to utilise the funds received from the Govt. judiciously to
help fulfil the vision of the chief minister.

The ADC, Ripamchi N Sangma, while delivering the key-note address, informed that the Govt. of Meghalaya had provided financial assistance to 464 producer groups under the FOCUS program in East Garo Hills and informed that a significant improvement in agriculture sector had been witnessed in the district.

On the day, the minister also distributed the guide books to the schools in and around
Williamnagar under the CM Impact Program.
