Measures to streamline MSPCB functioning discussed

Shillong, Dec 11: Measures to streamline the functioning of Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board (MSPCB) were discussed during a review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday.

Expressing satisfaction over progress made by MSPCB so far, the chief minister said, “It was a very positive meeting and a lot of positive suggestions have come and discussions on how to streamline the working of the pollution Board…”

He appreciated the MSPCB’s efforts, saying, “A lot of work has been done in the past many years, but a lot more can be done in the future.”

Sangma announced that another review meeting will be held in January to discuss concrete steps and measures to expand the scope of work of the Board and make it more effective.

Measures to implement various environment related acts will be discussed in the meeting, he said.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister expressed the hope that MSPCB will become a vibrant and effective Board, leading to better air and water quality and control of pollution in the state.
