Shillong, Feb 7: The ten-day Meghalaya budget session will commence on February 28 with three days allocated for private members’ business and seven for government business.
Announcing this on Thursday, Assembly Speaker Thomas Sangma said, “We will have ten full working days, with three days allocated for private members’ business and seven days for government business.”
Addressing concerns about limited time for Assembly discussions, Sangma assured that members would have ample opportunities to participate. “In case of a shortage, we will be happy to extend the session even on a Friday,” he said.
The Business Advisory Committee (BAC) of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly held a meeting on Thursday and was attended by Deputy Chief Minister in-charge of Parliamentary Affairs Prestone Tynsong, Leader of the Opposition Mukul Sangma, Trinamool Congress (TMC) state chief Charles Pyngrope, Government Advisor Lakhmen Rymbui, and other officials.
