Shillong, Oct 29: The Meghalaya High Court has given a three-week timeline to the Centre and State government to file a report on the inconvenience faced by the general public due to fishing competitions.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Soumen Sen and Justice W Diengdoh was hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) registered based on a letter from Joannes JTL Lamare, addressing the issue.
The court has given the respondents three weeks to file the report.
“We have heard the learned Advocate General for the State and the learned DSGI for the Union of India. We direct the respondents to file a report in the form of an affidavit with regard to the steps taken in this regard within three weeks from date,” the bench said in its order passed on October 27.
It has directed listing the matter for further hearing on November 25.
