Ampati, Sept 12: A month-long celebration of Poshan Maah began in South West Garo Hills district with an inaugural launch taking place at Balughat Community Hall, under Zikzak C&RD Block, on Friday.

To mark its launch, special guests, namely CDPO, ICDS Zikzak Project, B Hajong, M&HO Kalaichar PHC, Dr. Debakar Hajong, and Nokma of Balughat Darphius Ch Marak, graced the occasion.

As part of the celebration, a tree plantation drive – “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”  was organized, symbolizing the nurturing role of mothers and promoting environmental well-being.

The inaugural session also highlighted key themes of Poshan Maah, including awareness on prevention of obesity, promotion of infant and young child feeding (IYCF) practices, and men-streaming to encourage men’s involvement in family nutrition and health.

In addition, the importance of Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE) was emphasized under the theme “Poshan Bhi, Padhai Bhi”, integrating nutrition with early learning for the holistic development of children.

With inspiring messages, health and nutrition awareness, and enthusiastic participation from the community, the inaugural function marked a meaningful beginning to the month-long celebration of Poshan Maah.
