Guwahati, March 29: With just four days to go before the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council (RHAC) elections, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is surging ahead, backed by a high-energy campaign promising governance, development, and indigenous empowerment. Addressing massive rallies in Boko and Dudhnoi, Assam BJP president and Lok Sabha MP Dilip Saikia, along with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, made a bold pitch for NDA’s leadership, calling on voters to reject the “politics of betrayal” by the opposition.
Saikia lashed out at Congress, accusing them of exploiting indigenous communities for electoral gains. “For years, the Congress treated Rabha Hasong as a mere vote bank, offering empty promises while stalling real progress. That era is over. The NDA is here with a track record of action—whether in infrastructure, education, health, or cultural identity protection. This election is a choice between progress and stagnation,” he said.

Echoing this sentiment, Chief Minister Sarma underscored NDA’s governance model, touting its commitment to transparency and development. “Under NDA’s leadership, Assam has moved past corruption and instability. While the opposition divides and deceives, we build and empower. The people of Rabha Hasong will no longer be pawns in a political game—they will be partners in progress,” Sarma asserted.
Sarma announced that the BJP and Rabha Hasong Joint Struggle Committee (RHJM) would form the next council government together, ensuring comprehensive development in RHAC areas. He also promised a tripartite meeting between the central government, state government, and local communities to discuss implementing the Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution for RHAC, a long-standing demand of the region.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister highlighted NDA’s efforts in land rights, revealing that over 2,000 people had already received land documents under the Forest Rights Act. He assured that the new RHAC and Panchayat Committees would work to extend land rights to more families.
Sarma also took a swipe at a faction within the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), accusing Dr. Kamala Kalita of misleading voters by supporting independent candidates. He reassured that the AGP remains an ally of the BJP and part of NDA’s broader vision for Assam’s development.
As NDA intensified its election push, the rallies saw enthusiastic participation from top leaders, including RHAC Chief Executive Member Tankeswar Rabha and Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah. Their presence reinforced the NDA’s grip on the region and its commitment to indigenous empowerment.

Tankeswar Rabha, in his speech, called for a complete rout of the Congress from the RHAC elections, accusing the party of neglecting the region’s needs for decades. Taking a sharp jibe at Assam Congress President Bhupen Bora, Rabha mockingly suggested that Bora was on track to enter the Guinness Book of Records for repeated electoral defeats.
With a strong campaign narrative and growing public support, NDA leaders are confident of a decisive victory in the RHAC elections on April 2. Voters have been urged to back the BJP’s Lotus symbol and RHJM’s TV symbol, ensuring a stable and development-focused administration for Rabha Hasong.
As the campaign enters its final stretch, all eyes are now on April 2, when the voters of RHAC will decide whether to continue on NDA’s development path or return to the opposition’s past policies.
